SWEEPSTAKES AND VETERAN SWEEPSTAKES
Thank you to all the members of the PWCCWR for inviting me to judge at the show. I know there were a lot of dilemmas in moving the show and the date…but you pulled it off, big time!!! The site was wonderful, lots of shade and overlooking the lake. Thank you for the wonderful basket when we arrived, and the hospitality from all the club members.
As the sweeps entries go, they will all change on any different days…cherish the babies you have.

SPECIALTY REGULAR CLASSES

First off I’d like to thank the members of the PWCCWR and all the exhibitors who blessed me with the opportunity to judge their wonderful dogs. The depth of the entry was amazing. I was so very happy to see such strong puppy dog classes. For too long it seems like we’ve ignored our boys, but it made my heart happy to see so many promising youngsters in the ring. The bitches were strong, as usual, and then when my Best of Breed line-up entered, I about fell over! What a line-up! I had way more deserving winners than I did ribbons, which made me happy and sad all at once.
Congratulations to the club on hosting a fun event and at such a lovely site. Having Lake Erie as your backdrop. Wow. The hospitality was super and I plan on adding this show to my list of “must attend” next year.
Special thanks to Debbie Dennis DVM for the wonderful judges hospitality and a very special thank you to a lovely young lady, Brooke Royster, who was my ride back to the airport. I knew we’d get along great when she started the car and asked if it was okay if she played country music. She was the perfect end to an amazing day.

REGULAR CLASSES
PUPPY DOGS 6 TO 9 MONTHS (4 entered, 0 absent)
I was so very pleased to see a class of such nice young boys that I’m betting will all have promising futures.

rwd
1. SANDFOX STORM-PETREL (GCh. Sandfox Golden Whistler x Ch. Sandfox Rhythm of the Hanson) Breeders: Vicki Sandage, Brenda Stiles & Sandra Hanson. Owners: Vicki Sandage & Brenda Stiles. Handsome sable boy who made a lovely profile. Moderately long and low. Balanced angles front and rear. Dark, oval eye with pleasing expression. Skull needs to flatten a bit but that should come with age. He won this strong class on his free and easy sidegait. RESERVE WINNERS DOG today but guessing WD in his future.
2. MELYN RHOS STERLING SILVER (Ch. Aberlee Bransby x Sandfox Chance Play of Perivale) Breeder/Owner: B, Lea Jacobs. Dark, oval eyes, good chiseling and correct muzzle to skull proportion blessed this little guy with a standout head. Another with a good outline, nice layback and long upper arm. Though he was balanced when standing he didn’t drive off his rear like the above dog today and it cost him in the final go around. Still would take him home in a minute.
3. PORTER OF NOTTINGHAM (Ch. Brynlea Willowisp I Got Rhythm x Mimzy of Nottingham) Breeders: Marcia Ritchie & Margarette Ritchie. Owners: Marcia Ritchie & Sue Klepp-Magos. A longer bodied boy who wasn’t as mature as those above. Good profile but was a little long in loin. Balanced mover on the go around. Good bone. Wish his eye was a bit darker but otherwise a pleasing head.
4. STERLING ALL IN (Ch. Dalarno Play It Again Sam x GCh. Sundance Grace Kelly) Breeders: Kara Janiszak, Lisa Price & Debbie Price. Owners: Kara Janiszak & Alyssa Janiszak. The baby of the class. He had great bone with short hocks. Nice head proportions with proper ear set and dark eye made for an attractive head. Level topline. Moved out well from the side but could get a bit sloppy on the down and back. That could be age related.
12 TO 15 MONTHS DOGS (1 entered, 0 absent)
1. GREENWOODS MIDNIGHT FLYER (Ch. Linincorgi Don't Stop Believin' x Ch. Greenwoods Midnight Melody) Breeders/Owners: Deidre Rodgers & Mary Greenwood. Good substance on this tricolored boy. Short hocks with good bone. Nice angles front and rear gave him a fluid side gait. He made a pretty outline standing but fell off a bit in the croup on the move. I’m guessing maturity will correct that. Correct head proportions with good pigment. Shown in excellent condition.
15 TO 18 MONTHS DOGS (2 entered, 0 absent)
1. WINDDANCER AYLESFORD PARADOX (GCh. Aylesford Take It From The Top @ WindDancer x WindDancer In Living Color @ Aylesford) Breeders: Elizabeth Mercer & Mary DeToma. Owners: Mary DeToma, Ann Caterson & Elizabeth Mercer. Darker red and white boy. He made a nice picture standing but his topline roached some on the move. Heavier expression. Nice shoulder layback. Good bone. Won this class on his outline.
2. CURIG FAERIETALE MINI COOPER (Faerietale Curig Bentley, PT x Brumbaer's Kick'N Back @ Curig) Breeders/Owners: Susan Neave, Barbara Du Pree & Juliana Du Pree. Very pleasing head on this black-headed tricolor boy. He was in beautiful coat. He had good rear angulation but lacked the upper arm and front layback to go with it. When he moved his topline was level but when he stood it tended to sag just a bit, which cost him today.
BRED BY EXHIBITOR DOGS (1 entered, 0 absent)

wd
1. TOWNHILL ON THE SUNNY SIDE OF THE STREET (GCh. Ciregna Thats Amore x GCh. TownHill Penny Lane) Breeders/Owners: Mark Russo & Holly Russo. Handsome red and white who caught my eye as soon as he walked in. Lovely neck that blended into well angled front. Outstanding profile that he held both standing and on the move. Clean coming and going and balanced from the side. Loved his head and expression. Dark, oval eyes with 3:5 muzzle to skull ratio and nice chiseling. He was presented in beautiful condition. Pleased to award him WINNERS DOG.
AMERICAN BRED DOGS (1 entered, 0 absent)
1. BRYNLEA PHONE HOME (GCh. Woodsedge Brynlea Noir Like Me x Brynlea Just Enuff Glee) Breeders: B. Stiles, L. Pawl & S. Klar. Owner: B. Stiles. Handsome light sable who was quite exuberant! Correct long, low outline with good bone and feet. Well angled front and rear made for an easy ground covering side gait. He was blowing coat but what he did have was healthy. Correct head planes with pleasing expression. The one problem I saw was that he tended to fall off at the croup on the move. I have a feeling if he was in coat this wouldn’t have been very noticeable. This boy has a bright future.
OPEN DOGS (2 entered, 0 absent)
1. BRYNLEA KARMA EMERALD BRAVADO (GCh. CH Sandfox Cadenza x Brynlea Bada Bling) Breeders: Brenda Stiles & Denise Hartley. Owners: Kim Bevelhymer, Brenda Stiles & Denise Hartley. Red boy with light sabling. Handsome, masculine head on this boy. Easy, ground covering side gait with a strong, level back. Could use more depth of chest and he was a little long in hock. Good bone. Still a quality dog.
2. BRYNLEA BADA BOOM (Ch. Brynlea Bada Bing x Ch. Brynlea Willowisp Singularity) Breeders: Brenda Stiles & Sandra Hanson. Owners: Brenda Stiles, Debbie Oliver & Sheila Broderick. A handsome dark sable with eyes that would just melt you. He had nice back and underlines but like above, was a bit long in hock. Lovely reach of neck that blended into well laid back shoulders. Though he looked balanced standing he had more reach than drive on the move. That cost him first today.
VETERAN DOGS 7 TO 10 YEARS (2 entered, 0 absent)
1. GCH. HEARTSONG BRYNLEA PAVAROTTI (GCh. Sandfox Medaglia D'Oro x Ch. Brynlea Mona Lisa) Breeders: Carolyn Staup & Brenda Stiles. Owners: V Sandage, B Stiles, D Hartley & C Staup. Handsome tricolor boy who just glided around the ring. Long, low and level, just like we want them. He was shown in fabulous condition and asked for, or shall I say demanded, the win. AWARD OF MERIT
2. GCH. CREEKSIDE HARD WORKIN MAN (Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Ch. Knightsbridge Picabo Street) Breeders: Michael Scott & Michelle Scott. Owner: Kathleen S. Norcia. This guy had the prettiest of expressions that just made you melt. He too had nice angles but like many of us do with age, tended to be a bit overweight. Still a handsome fellow whom I just loved.
VETERAN DOGS 10+ YEARS (1 entered, 0 absent)

1. CH. RANPRI'S THE BUCK STOPS HERE (Ch. Triple H Once In A Brew Moon x Triple H Ranpri's Wildflower II) Breeder/Owner: Randy E Pritts. Darker red and white who at 11 years old was just amazing on the move. He had a long neck that blended into correct shoulders and a topline that was rock solid. Good length of ribcage that some of the younger dogs could have used. Shown in top condition. AWARD OF MERIT

PUPPY BITCHES 6 TO 9 MONTHS (6 entered, 1 absent, 1 excused)
This was a lovely class of baby girls who all were of high quality but of four different styles. The placements could easily be rearranged at any given time.

rwb

1. KARMA SPIRIT OF ECSTACY (GCh. Heartsong Brynlea Pavarotti x Brynlea Bada Bling) Breeders: Denise Hartley & Brenda Stiles . Owner: Denise Hartley. Pretty little sable bitch with a nice eye and expression. Wasn’t the showiest one in the bunch when standing but on the move she strutted her stuff with an easy, ground covering stride. She had a long neck that blended into correct front assembly. Long level topline that was held both standing and on the move. Well sprung ribcage that extended well back, giving her a short loin. Tight feet. Was pleased to award her RESERVE WINNERS BITCH and BEST PUPPY.
2. SPRINGMILL BIG CYPRESS WHISTLE STOP (Ch. Sandfox Golden Whistler x Ch. Big Cypress Springmill Everybodies Talkin) Breeders: Dorothy Sanford & Nancy Oehlhof. Owner: Nancy Oehlhof. Light red and white who made a pretty outline standing and on the move. Long neck blended into a moderate shoulder which gave her a balanced gait on the move. Good depth of chest with long rib cage. Nice head but would prefer a bit more underjaw. Presented in excellent condition.
3. TOWNHILL WHATS LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT () Breeder: Mark and Holly Russo. Sire: GCh Nchanted Concerto Dam: GCh TownHill Penny Lane. Owner:Mark and Holly Russo. Light red and white bitch that just oozed type. She was shorter coupled then the rest of the class but was well balanced. Beautiful head and expression. Lovely arch to neck that blended well into shoulders. Good depth and ribbing. Level back. Short hocks and well boned. What cost her a higher placement today was the tendency for her back to roll on the move. I’m betting that will improve with age.
4. STERLING 'N GAYLORD SHE'S GOT THE LOOK (Ch. Dalarno Play It Again Sam x GCh. Sundance Grace Kelly) Breeders: Kara Janiszak, Lisa Price & Debbie Price. Owners: Kara Janiszak & David Guempel. Beautiful head on this tricolor girl with dark, oval eyes, correct head planes and proportions. She looked to be the baby of the class. She held her level topline throughout and was balanced on the move. I would like to see a bit more length of neck and a longer upper arm.
PUPPY BITCHES 9 TO 12 MONTHS (3 entered, 1 absent)
1. LIONHART'S YOUR SO VAIN (GCh. Martindale's Black Bart x GCh. Lionhart's Cameo Appearance) Breeders: Daniel Hartman, Debbie Royster & Judy Manley. Owners: Lisa Price & Debbie Price. Pretty girl with a dark eye and soft expression. She had nice reach and drive from the side as well as a strong topline. Good bone carried down to tight feet. Was a bit soft in condition but her quality still came through.
2. BRYNLEAADDIS TOUCH OF GLAMOUR (GCh.Sandfox Medaglio D'Oro x Ch. Brynlea Touched By The Sun) Breeders: Jacquelyn Lude, Addis Lude & Brenda Stiles. Owners: Kim Bevelhymer & Brenda Stiles. Darling tricolor of smaller stature. Beautiful balance front to rear with nice length of body and good ribbing. Loved her expression and head. Today her topline let her down but hopefully it will correct with time.
12 TO 15 MONTHS BITCHES (4 entered, 1 absent)
Three very different styles on these girls and at different stages of maturity.
1. HEAVEN SCENT'S SHE'S ALL THAT (Ch. Keepsake All That jazz x Ch. Heaven Scent's Irish Eyes R' Smilin, CA) Breeder/Owner: Lesa Daugherty. Tricolor with a nice balanced outline. Pretty face with dark eyes, correct 3:5 head proportions and good ear set and shape. Good outline but dropped off slightly at the croup. Clean mover from all angles.
2. BRUMBAER'S MINK AND PEARLS (Brumbaer's Krome Bumpers x Kaybe Bottoms Up) Breeders: Sherryn Viebrock, Sue King & Karen Fruhmann. Owners: Sue King & Karen Fruhmann. Beautiful type on this girl. Gorgeous head and expression. Lovely outline with all parts blending smoothly. Balanced side gait but not as clean coming at you. Pushed the winner hard.
3. GARVINS STEP BY STEP (Ch. Garvins Side By Side x Ch. Garvins Rhyme N Reason) Breeders: Kay Gunderson & Gayle Garvin. Owners: Bonnie Hansen & Gayle Garvin. Red and white with super ring presence. Pretty head with pleasing expression and dark eye. Long neck blended nicely into her front but her short upper arm tended to make her lift on the go around. Made a pretty picture standing. Shorter, tighter and completely correct coat. Was shown in top performance condition.
15 TO 18 MONTHS BITCHES (4 entered, 0 absent)
1. KEEPSAKE ON THE DOUBLE (GCh. Ciregna Thats Amore x Keepsake Smooth Confession) Breeder/Owner: Molly Forbes. This light sable was a joy to watch on the move. She had a lovely reach of neck that blended in to well set shoulders. The rear angles matched perfectly giving her an effortless, ground covering stride. She had a strong topline that remained firm on the move. She had a nice dark eye but I would have liked a bit softer expression. She will have a great future in the ring.
2. BRIGADOON'S BROADWAY BABY OF SADDLE LANE (Aberlee Take It To the Limit x Brigadoon Lady of the Manor) Breeder: Betty Cook. Owners: Andrew Carter & Betty Cook. Beautiful type on this light red and white. Pretty expression with dark eyes and good head proportions. Moderate length of neck blended nicely into front. Balanced angles front to rear. Clean mover in all directions. Her conditioning wasn’t at its best today and it cost her in the end.
3. LEFTBANK KESTREL IT'S MY PARTY AT DAYDREAM (Aberlee Leave It To Me x Ch. Leftbank Kestrel Where's The Party) Breeders: Lynne Bloor Wolfe & Ann Caterson. Owners: Sally Felix, Lynne Bloor Wolfe & Ann Caterson. Another girl who had a lot to like but was shown overweight. Correct head planes and sweet expression. She was low stationed with nice bone and balanced angles. She was an easy mover but I bet it would have been even nicer with a few less pounds.
4. KACIA'S WEEKEND SURPRISE (GCh. Juels R'Bratt Midnight Express x Kacia's Believe You Can) Breeder: Kathy Garcia. Owner: Wendy L Wendt. Tricolor girl who was very immature. Pleasing head and expression with proper stop, eye shape and color and pigmentation. Balanced angles from to rear made a nice picture going around.. Chest hasn’t dropped yet and she hasn’t bodied up so she still looked quite leggy.
AMATEUR OWNER HANDLER BITCHES (1 entered, 0 absent)
1. FOXLORE SHAKEN NOT STIRRED (Ch. Lost River's Secret Agentman @Aylesford x GCh. Aylesford Wind In The Willows) Breeders: Christin Borowka & Barbara Palmer. Owners: Mary Detoma & Beverly Ryan. Pretty red-headed tricolor with a pleasing head and expression, good ear set, pigment and head planes. She had a beautiful outline with a solid topline and ribbing that went well back. Correct bone carried to feet. She was balanced moving from the side but was a bit wide coming at you. Nice girl.
BRED BY EXHIBITOR BITCHES (3 entered, 1 absent)

wb
1. BROGAN BRIGHT LIGHT (GCh. Heritage Brogan Light The Lamp x GCh. Brogan Tralee) Breeder/Owner: Mari Carroll. Beautiful type and outline on this red and white bitch. She had lovely length of neck that blended to well laid back shoulders with good upper arm. The rear angles matched, giving her an effortless side gait. Her topline never wavered standing or on the move. She had ample bone that she carried down to tight, oval feet. In great coat and condition. Was happy to award her WINNERS BITCH and BEST OF WINNERS.
2. FOXWOOD'S LOVE OF THE GAME (GCh. Ciregna Thats Amore x Ch. Foxwood's Happy Ever After) Breeders/Owners: Debbie Royster & Daniel Hartman. Beautiful outline on this girl though she wasn’t quite as mature as the above. She had a pleasing head with fabulous pigment. Strong, level topline. Balanced on the side but not quite the reach and drive of the above. She has a bright future.
AMERICAN BRED BITCHES (1 entered, 0 absent)
1. BRYNLEA COFFEE CUP FOUR ON THE FLOOR (Ch. Woodsedge Brynlea Noir Like Me x Brynlea Just Enuff Glee) Breeder: Lisa P Ben-Dror, Brenda Stiles & Susan Klar. Owners: Kierstin Holmes, Lisa P Ben-Dror & Patricia Flanagan. A pretty red and white without much chrome. Pretty expression with good pigment and dark eyes, though they were a bit round. Nice shoulders with matching rear angels. Balanced side gait going around and clean down and back. Good bone and short hocks. Fell off slightly at the croup.
OPEN BITCHES (4 entered, 0 absent)
1. BRUMBAER'S SKYFALL (Ch. Greenwood's Fame and Fortune x Ch. Honeyfox Saddle Lane Hayden) Breeders: Susan King & Andrew Carter. Owners: Susan King & Karen Fruhmann. Larger red and white who immediately caught my attention on the first go around with her ground covering reach and drive. She had lovely reach of neck that blended cleanly into well laid back shoulders and upper arm. Her topline was level at all times and was complimented with ribbing that reached well back. Her bone was in proportion to her size and of correct shape. Her head wasn’t quite as feminine as I’d like but a super quality bitch who pushed hard for winners.
2. SANDFOX TRILLER (GCh. Heartsong Brynlea Pavarotti x GCh. Sandfox Kismet) Breeder: Vicki Sandage DVM. Owners: Karen Werfield & Vicki Sandage DVM. Red and white who wasn’t as mature as the above but shows a ton of promise. She was presented in beautiful coat and condition. She had a lovely feminine head with correct planes, dark pigment, good size ears, with proper placement, and dark, oval eyes. Her outline was correct, long and moderately low. She was clean coming and going and balanced on the side but tended to flip her front feet a bit. Another one I’d take home in a minute.
3. WIND DANCER IN LIVING COLOR @ AYLESFORD (Ch. Rosewood Brigantne x Aylesford Best Kept Secret) Breeders: Mary DeToma & Betty Mercer. Owners: Mary DeToma & Elizabeth Mercer. Heavier bodied tricolor who was shorter coupled than those above but still had nice proportions. Balanced angles front to rear with an easy side gait. Loved her pigment. Good bone. She was on the overweight side today and it cost her in this class.
4. HARMONY TWO TIMING WOMAN (Ch. Anlen Payday x Ch. Harmony Whiskey River) Breeder/Owner: Melody Kist. Youngster in the class but lots of promise here. Super balance fore and aft which made for a nice sideview. Clean coming and going. She appeared a little longer in hock and her otherwise level back fell away a bit at the croup on the move. She had a nice ribcage that carried well back. All she needs is a few months of maturity.
VETERAN BITCHES 7 TO 10 YEARS (1 entered, 0 absent)

1. GCH. GREENWOODS MOONLIGHT MELODY (Ch. Byendebrok Maplecreek Baccarat x Ch. Greenwoods Moonlight Madness) Breeders/Owners: Deidre Rodgers & Mary Greenwood. Fabulous girl. Had it all and she knew it. Besides a few gray hairs nothing would make you think this lovely lady was a veteran. Correct head planes and proportion made for an attractive head but it was her body that earned her the win. Moderate size girl with a beautiful topline and underline. Her ribbing stretched well back giving her a short, strong loin. Her pretty neck flowed into well laid back shoulder and a long upper arm. Good bone. Shown in perfect condition. Was happy to award her BEST OF BREED, BEST VETERAN.
VETERAN BITCHES 10+ YEARS (1 entered, 0 absent)
1. CORALIE BEAUCARE GRACE (Ch. Dwynella Black Benny x Ch. Ranchosierra September Storm) Breeders: Carol Liebich & Becky DuBose. Owners: Casey Pawl DVM & Carol Liebich.WOW! 13-year-old in amazing condition. She could still out move the majority of the entry here today. She had a beautiful shoulder layback with long upper arm. She was clean on the down and back, had great bone and a long ribcage. Very impressed. I’ve known this gal since she was a youngster and I’m wishing her and her Mom several more happy years together. Wish I could have done even more for her.

Handsome dog with one of the most beautiful heads of the day. His pigment, eye shape, ear set and proportions were spot on. Thank goodness he’s not just another pretty face as he was also blessed with a long flowing neck, a beautiful front and rear and a dead level back. He moved easily around the ring and was clean in every direction. Nice bone and tight feet.
